SpiceJet, a prominent Indian carrier, found itself addressing two separate issues this week, with a technical snag affecting its customer care helpline and a minor in-flight incident drawing attention. The airline has assured the public that it's taking necessary steps to normalize services and that passenger safety was never compromised.

On Thursday, SpiceJet acknowledged that some passengers were encountering difficulties reaching their customer care helpline. This disruption is due to technical glitches, and the airline stated it's actively working to resolve the problem swiftly. In an official message shared on X (formerly Twitter), SpiceJet posted: “We are currently experiencing intermittent issues with our SpiceJet Customer Care helpline numbers. We assure you that our relevant teams are working to resolve this as soon as possible. In the meantime, please connect with us through our official social media channels. We will be glad to assist you. Stay tuned for further updates. The inconvenience caused is regretted.” The airline encourages passengers seeking assistance to reach out via their social media channels for prompt support.

In-Flight Window Incident Clarified

Adding to the week's events, a minor incident occurred on Tuesday aboard SpiceJet flight SG 1080, traveling from Goa to Pune. During the flight, a cosmetic window frame became loose. This understandably caused concern among some passengers.

However, SpiceJet was quick to clarify the nature of the component. A spokesperson for the airline confirmed that the dislodged piece was a non-structural trim piece, primarily used for shading. They emphasized that it did not affect the aircraft’s structural integrity or overall safety.

“A cosmetic window frame on one of SpiceJet’s Q400 aircraft became loose during flight and was found dislodged. It is important to note that this was a non-structural trim component, fitted onto the window for the purpose of shade, and did not compromise the safety or integrity of the aircraft in any way. Cabin pressurisation remained normal throughout the flight, and there was no impact on passenger safety,” a SpiceJet spokesperson stated.

The airline further explained that despite the visual disruption, cabin pressurization remained normal throughout the flight, and passengers were never at risk. SpiceJet highlighted that its Q400 aircraft are designed with multiple layers of window panes, including a robust, pressure-bearing outer pane that ensures continued safety even if internal cosmetic fittings are affected. The loose frame was promptly fixed upon landing at the next station, adhering to standard maintenance procedures.

SpiceJet has reiterated its unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards across its operations.
